The image

Faith-inspired designs

Every piece starts with the image rather than the scent. The imagery is drawn from Christian and Orthodox tradition — crosses, icons, scripture — and chosen deliberately rather than assembled from stock artwork.

The practical argument for it is placement. A car freshener hangs at eye level, in the one spot you look at most while driving. Whatever is printed on it, you will see it several times a day for as long as you keep it. That is a reasonable thing to be deliberate about.

It is also the reason the pieces are built to last. A design worth choosing is not a design worth throwing away when a fragrance runs out.

Five to ten days per application, and then the part that matters — what happens when it fades.

The oils are cosmetic fragrances — non-toxic and formulated for the material, but not natural, and we would rather say so plainly than imply otherwise. If you would prefer to use your own essential oils instead, the pieces take those equally well, and unscented pieces can be arranged on request.

Heat is the main variable. A car parked in open sun holds fragrance for noticeably less time than one garaged overnight, which is why the same piece behaves differently in February than it does in July. Airflow and how often the windows are down account for most of the rest.

Rather than chase a longer single application, the range is built around a shorter cycle you can repeat indefinitely. A disposable freshener that lasts four weeks is finished at the end of them. A re-scentable one that lasts a week is not finished at all — and over a year, that is the difference between one purchase and a dozen.

You also control the strength, which no pre-scented product allows. Three to five drops per side is the usual guide; two is plenty for a small cabin or a sensitive nose. Most complaints about car fragrance come down to too much of it in too small a space, and this is the part that solves that.

How to refresh your car freshener

Most of which is waiting for the oil to absorb.

Wait until the scent has faded
Applying oil to a piece that is still saturated does not make it stronger. Around the five to ten day mark the fragrance softens noticeably — that is the cue.
Apply three to five drops to one side
Spread across the surface rather than pooled in one spot. Start at the lower end; you can always add another drop tomorrow.
Let it absorb, then flip and repeat
A few minutes for the card to take the oil in, then the same on the other side. Rushing this is what leaves residue on your fingers.
Hang it back up
From the mirror rather than resting on a surface. Hanging gives even dispersal on both faces and keeps oil away from your dashboard and trim.

Re-scent with the fragrance the piece originally carried for the cleanest result. Layering a new scent over the remains of a different one gives you a blend of the two — if you want to change scent properly, let the old one fade out completely first.
